About the River Rats

A young club with a champion's heart โ€” learn about Regina's Junior C hockey team.

Born in Regina

The Regina River Rats were founded by Brent Kaytor, who serves as the club's Head Coach and part owner alongside Team TNT. Based in Regina, Saskatchewan, the Rats compete in the Qu'Appelle Valley Junior Hockey League (QVHHL) at the Junior C level.

From their founding, the River Rats have been committed to providing 18-to-21-year-old players from the Regina area with a high-quality Junior C hockey experience โ€” complete with organized practices, chartered bus travel to away games, game day programs, and a competitive schedule against teams from across the Qu'Appelle Valley region.

The River Rats captured the 2026 QVHHL Provincial Championship โ€” finishing the regular season with a 13-3-1-1 record (28 points) before going 8-1 through the playoffs. The championship game was a dominant 4-0 shutout of the Emerald Park Wizards on March 28, 2026.
